Busy days

So, I haven't written in a while, I've been meaning to, however I've been hellishly busy. So, quicky recap of my past week!

Tuesday: Drive back to Madison from Indianapolis. No air conditioning. Six hour drive.
Wednesday: Nothing. Like, at all. It was amazing.
Thursday: Errands with mom and then mowing the lawn and trimming hedges and weeds. I watched the first disc of two I had for Mushi-shi.
Friday: Woke up (I was a little out of it the night before) at 12:30, called Kyle, we had coffee. Car breaks down. Mary and I went hanging around town. Saw Transformers: Rise of the Fallen with Mary. Mary and I met Emily and Audrey who came into Madison for the next couple days. Emily, Audrey, and I go to the park. Busch comes over and all four of us play pool and watch Borat. Busch leaves, Emily goes to sleep, Audrey and I watch Mrs. Doubtfire.
Saturday: Wake up, watch the women make breakfast and then don't eat it. Go to the Zoo, be disappointed by our zoo. Check on my car. Head to State Street. Get home and say goodbye to them. Go look at car with dad. Go out to dinner with mom and dad. Watch the second disc of Mushi-shi. Watch Snatch.

And that brings us to now! I'll start with what's interesting.

First off, the new Transformers movie, is incredibly boring for the last hour out of two and three quarters hour long movie. That's just not okay, and if it weren't for Meagan Fox's hotness and my strange loyalty to Shia even though he's a bad actor (I think it's left over from his days on Even Stevens) I would have walked out, easily; and I actually paid for the movie this time! (2/5)

Secondly, the anime Mushi-shi is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Very entertaining and it makes me think about life and nature a lot, and for some reason I'm enjoying that fact. Anime buffs should go take a look. (4/5)

Third, I FINALLY bought my own copy of Snatch, which is undoubtedly one of my favorite movies.

Fourth, I apologize Borat, you were a good movie. I was wrong, I will go buy you as payment for my wrongdoings. (4/5)

Last bit about movies, Mrs. Doubtfire is a bit underrated in my opinion. It's a nice flick to take off the shelf and watch now and again. (3.5/5)

Next! On to music.

First here, The Phoenix Foundation. I can't find a CD of theirs at all. Anywhere. But then again, I don't buy CDs online, so maybe I should see about that. (?/5 Haven't got a chance to really listen to them.)

Next, Modey Lemon. I know little about this band, but their song "The Bear Comes Down the Mountain" is pretty kick ass. (Same as the last one)

Last, The Decemberists. I love the new album "Hazards of Love". I always fall in love with the stories they put into their albums though, so I'm not surprised. (5/5) Thanks Josh for the lend!

Hope you guys like the music, I've got to get to sleep so I can drive back to Wisconsin tomorrow. Six hours in a car with no air conditioning. Good God. Oh, and then I'll be attacked with stories about Europe from my girlfriend, joy oh joy >.> . (Just kidding hon, love ya ;) )

Movies!

Okay, I've got two for you today, one I'm sure most of you know about and the other, I kind of doubt it (but I have links for you guys :) )

First off, is The Hangover.

Actor-wise, I think that Zach Galifinakis did wonderful in this movie, despite being... well, basically unknown. No offense to the guy, I love his standup. He was exactly weird enough to make him moderately frightening and hilarious at the same time. But the one who stole the show, at least for my sister-in-law and brother, was Ed Helms. He plays a dentist who's one of the good friends of the "lead" Justin Bartha. And, may I say that Heather Graham is damn attractive? Easily could be a stripper and make a few more millions.

Plot-wise, it's about four guys who have one hell of a night in Las Vegas. Any more than that and I'd be spoiling it for you.

What I gave the movie was around 4.5 out of 5 (my usual scale). My sister-in-law and brother gave it a 4 and a 3.5 respectively. My friend Mary who saw it with me before *yes, I went twice, it's that good) gave it somewhere in the area of a 4 (it was about two and a half weeks ago, the weed messes with my memory). All in all however, this movie is without a doubt, hilarious. A must see for anyone who's of age for the movie.

Second is a movie called Eagle Vs. Shark.

Actor-wise, we have Joel Tobeck, who some of you might remember from 30 Days of Night and Jemaine Clement who was a writer and composer for Flight of the Concords (some of you must want to see it just because of that). Loren Horsley (who personally I've never heard of) is the lead, and for the character she plays, she does a fantastic job. I may see if I can scrounge up something else she's been in. (*mental note to IMDB her*)

Plot-wise, it's two losers coming together in a story where they, "try to find love; through revenge on high-school bullies, burgers, and video games." Honestly, I can't do it justice, so... *looks for people who'd bully him about putting links up* Okay, coast is clear!

I got this movie recommended to me by a friend of mine in New Zealand (much love Azzy!) and I have to agree with her that this movie is one for the top shelf (or top bookmarks) of your movie collection. Just wait for the awkwardness to pull you in and the lines to make you laugh.

Nineteen Degrees

So, as far as I know, and as I've always seen, the first post of a blog is usually the writer telling the readers what to expect in the blog and a little about the writer. Well, I won't be breaking that tradition here sadly, I know you all hate to hear about other people's lives.

Well, I suppose we'll start with me. I'm from Madison, Wisconsin and have lived there all my life except for just recently. I finished my first year of college with a 2.3 GPA and a lot more experience in life than I had been prepared for in my home and in college. I grew up in a Christian home and in a private Christian school where I pretty much wasted my time by playing video games and messing around on the internet. I still do most of those things, but now I try and balance them at least a little by having a semblance of a social life. I go to Iowa and am currently majoring in Computer Science trying to fulfill my dream of working at Naughty Dog. (Cause they rock. Props to Princess!)

Now for the blog. First, I should explain the title. I decided to name it nineteen degrees for two reasons. One, right now I'm nineteen. Second, I'm pretty familiar with the temperature. I figure this blog will end up with me ranting about things I find interesting or compelling (or both on really awesome occasions), but I've also wanted a blog where I can tell people about awesome music and movies I happen across by various means.

So, I'll stop my bla bla blaing and get on with some interesting crap!
